Julia Reda is a percussionist and drummer from Atlanta, Georgia. Julia graduated with honors from the University of Kansas, studying under Professor Garrett Arney and Dr. Sam Um. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, she also maintained a private studio comprised of both music and non-music majors and taught courses in percussion techniques. Prior to that, she graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance under the tutelage of Professors Ji Hye Jung and Lee Vinson.


As a performer, Julia has recently toured internationally as an ensemble member with the World Percussion Group. She has won multiple Downbeat Awards playing drums with Vanderbilt University’s Blair Big Band, and she has released recordings of several significant chamber works with the Vanderbilt Percussion Group. She continues to actively collaborate with young percussionists and composers alike through commissioning projects, masterclass presentations, and private instruction. With a background in the marching arts, Julia has also served as a percussion technician or instructor with several band programs throughout the metro-Atlanta area.


She is currently working as a freelance artist and educator in Atlanta and serving as Adjunct Instructor of Percussion at Clayton State University.
